Hello! On this page we've added some ideas on the types of clothes to look for, and places you can buy from! :)
Starting off with women's attire, there are a lot of different options including lehengas, sarees, suits/shararas, anarkalis etc. You can play around with different designs and colours as much as you want!
A typical lehenga is a long skirt with a blouse and dupatta (scarf).
A typical saree is a long fabric that is wrapped around your waist and carefully safety pinned (similar idea as a greek toga), paired with a blouse. This can take some learning so watch some videos and practice before the big day! You can also find half-sarees which are pre-wrapped and worn like a skirt but give same look as a real saree.
There are a lot of different styles of both suits & shararas, but the main quality about them both, is that they are pants paired with a top and dupatta (scarf).
Anarkalis are similar to suits & shararas since they are a top with pants, but anarkalis fall all the way down which gives the look of a long dress or gown.
There are a lot of different options for men's attire at Indian weddings as well including sherwanis, jodhpuri suits, or even a western suit/tux. Again, you can play around with different designs, styles, and colours all you want!
A sherwani is a long coat-like garment that is worn over a kurta (long shirt), and paired with pants. It is better suited for the Wedding Day as it is more traditional.
Jodhpuri suits have a great blend of Indian and Western tailoring. A jodhpuri suit consists of a jacket, trousers, and vest or coat.
This one doesn't need much explaining!
If you ever feel like you're going over the top with your outfit for the wedding - you're not!! Dress to the nines!!💯
